DeWitt County\, TX)\nLifelong rancher and conservationist Frank Klein has documented the natural rhythms of his family’s DeWitt County ranch\, established in 1878. His interest in photography began with vacation snapshots and wildflowers\, evolving to capture wildlife\, insects\, landscapes\, and local Texas cemeteries\, each with its own personality. Using Nikon cameras with vintage high-resolution Canon lenses\, Klein creates archivally printed photographs that explore the interconnectedness of life. Guided by his belief that “Everything is interconnected\,” his work encourages viewers to reflect on the beauty\, fragility\, and subtle dramas of the natural world. \nSelected Awards & Exhibitions:\n2021: “A Witch and Her Familiar\,” 1st Place\, Dimension XLVIII Photography\, Art Center Corpus Christi \n2020: Outdoor Photographer Magazine Finalist\, “Male Painted Bunting”\nTexas Artist Exhibition\, Beeville Art Museum\, 2019–2020\nDeWitt County Wildflower Association & Shutterbugs Photography Awards \nKent Ullberg (b. This powerful exhibition offers insight into legendary cowboys\, a clearer picture of the Black West and a more diverse portrait of the American West with artifacts\, photographs and documents depicting the work and skills of Black cowboys. \n“The individual stories of Black cowboys\, illustrating courage in the face of discrimination\, skill\, despite great odds\, and success through generations as ranchers and leaders in their field are powerful\,” said Marise McDermott\, president and CEO of the Witte Museum\, which organized the exhibition. “The Witte Museum was privileged to work closely with an outstanding steering committee and advisors\, including community leaders\, scholars and Black cowboys and ranchers\, to create this unparalleled exhibition\, which reveals what life was like for Black cowboys during this time”. \nMuseum visitors will discover how Black cowboys tamed and trained horses\, tended livestock and rode on the trail with thousands of cattle across America. Over time\, the role of Black cowboys evolved as they used the skills they learned on the ranch and trail to own their own ranches\, serve as lawmen\, ride in rodeos\, become singers and perform in movies. Today\, the lives and legacies of Black cowboys have inspired new generations to explore the past through music\, film\, fashion and design.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” header_style=”dark” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” el_class=”dark box-image-right-row vertical-align-center” z_index=”” background_color=”#584831″][vc_column offset=”vc_col-lg-8 vc_col-md-6 vc_col-xs-12″][vc_column_text] \nCentral to the exhibition is a film about cowboy Hector Bazy\, portrayed by distinguished actor and playwright Eugene Lee.\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column offset=”vc_col-lg-4 vc_col-md-6 vc_col-xs-12″][vc_single_image image=”18826″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” header_style=”light” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=”” padding_top=”40″ padding_bottom=”40″][vc_column][vc_column_text]Central to the exhibition is a film about Hector Bazy\, portrayed by distinguished actor and playwright Eugene Lee.
