10 Oct Life on the Fence — A New Art Exhibition Opens October 21 at Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum
Cuero, TX (October 10, 2025) — The Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum is proud to announce the opening of Life on the Fence, a compelling exhibition pairing fine art photography by Texas native Frank Klein with bronze wildlife sculptures by internationally acclaimed artist Kent Ullberg. The exhibition will run from Tuesday, October 21 through Tuesday, December 30, 2025, with an opening reception held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on October 21.
About the Exhibition
Curated from Frank Klein’s personal collection, Life on the Fence invites visitors to reflect on the delicate and often overlooked connections between humans, animals, and the landscapes we inhabit. Klein’s evocative photographs—drawn from his family’s DeWitt County ranch and his deep connection to the land—are paired with Ullberg’s bronze sculptures, which reflect his intimate understanding of wildlife form and motion. Together, Klein and Ullberg celebrate the land and creatures of South Central Texas in this unique showcase of the natural world.
Artist Profiles
- Frank Klein (b. DeWitt County, Texas) is a lifelong rancher and conservationist whose photographic work documents the rhythms of his home landscape. Using Nikon film and digital cameras with vintage and modern lenses, Klein captures photographs of wildlife, insects, landscapes, and rural cemeteries in a style that emphasizes subtle drama and interconnectedness. Guided by the philosophy that “everything is interconnected,” his pieces encourage reflection on the beauty and fragility of the natural world.
- Kent Ullberg (born in Sweden, now residing in Texas) is internationally acclaimed for his large-scale wildlife sculptures that blend scientific observation with creative interpretation. His work can be found in public installations in Corpus Christi, Rockport and around the globe. Among his many honors are the Prix de West Purchase Award, the Rungius Medal, and election as a Full Academician of the National Academy in New York. Retrospectives in Stockholm (2017) and South Texas (2019) celebrated his contributions to wildlife art and conservation.
