A Look Back on the Trail: 2025 in Review

As 2025 draws to a close, we find ourselves reflecting not only on the progress we’ve made this year, but also on the challenges we’ve faced together. First and foremost, thank you for your continued and unwavering support of the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum.

This year, we experienced a profound loss with the passing of our founder, leader, and friend, Robert Oliver. Robert was truly irreplaceable. His vision continues to guide us, and his impact will shape our direction forward through 2026 and beyond. 

Despite the challenges, we have accomplished much in 2025. We celebrated the 25th anniversary of the founding of the board, and began the restoration of the Trautwein and Cook & Day buildings for our highly anticipated Expansion. This project has strong momentum, and your generous support remains vital to seeing it through. 

While financial contributions are deeply appreciated, it is your participation and support of our events that sits at the heart of our success. Cowboy Camp continues to thrive, and we are excited to carry this cherished tradition into 2026. In addition, we’ll continue Cowpoke Storytime and the “Adventures on the Trail” program for local 4th and 5th graders. We’re committed to offering quality programs and exhibitions to visitors not only from Texas and across the U.S., but from around the world.

I truly believe that the best is still ahead of us. We will honor Robert’s legacy while confidently charting the path forward he envisioned—one that ensures a strong Museum, sound financial footing, and a continued place as a leading regional institution. As I travel around Texas, I hear more and more people talking about our Museum. Please share our story with your friends and neighbors far and wide. We have much to be proud of!
