14 Jul Chisholm Trail Museum Board Appoints New Chair, Rick Bluntzer
Robert L. Oliver was the founder and Chairman of the Board for the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum in Cuero from its inception until his passing in June of 2025. For 25 years Robert led the museum with big, forward thinking vision and an eye for excellence, taking it from a group of individuals interested in celebrating local ranching heritage, to a growing campus in the heart of DeWitt County.
For the first time in its history, the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum Board of Directors has elected a new leader. Please join the board and staff in congratulating Mr. Rick Bluntzer as the new Chairman of the Board.
Rick is a Cuero native, son of the late Margaret and Pete Bluntzer. Currently residing in San Antonio with his wife, Anne, Rick is a public affairs executive with extensive experience in government and community relations, regulatory affairs, operations and corporate communications. Rick joined the CTHM board in fall 2024, immediately jumping in to serve as project manager for the Trautwein expansion project. He brings an earnest enthusiasm to the role, and is energized to lead CTHM toward its next 25 years.
Vote of Confidence
Patricia Miller, Vice Chair of CTHM, stated that her proposal and motion to the Board to elect Rick Bluntzer as Board Chair was based on her experience of Rick’s passion for the museum, his strong skills set and his felt leadership. In fact, Patricia noted, she and Robert were in full agreement regarding Rick’s meaningful involvement in CTHM’s growth and success.
“I am very honored and humbled to have a small part in helping to continue the work that Robert, the Board of Directors, and the Museum staff began many years ago. I have big shoes to fill but my goal is to see Robert’s vision carried on. As a Board, we are focused on completing the Trautwein Expansion project in honor of Robert and his many contributions he made to Cuero and DeWitt County.” – Rick Bluntzer
Leaving a Legacy
Robert did, indeed, leave big shoes to fill. The CTHM Board of Directors and staff are committed to honoring Robert’s legacy, and the work of so many who have contributed to CTHM for 25 years. The Oliver family hopes that those who wish to make a contribution in Robert’s memory consider a gift to the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum – his most special legacy project.
